Some things are difficult to communicate without breaking character or the RP. Players use terms more suited to RP to avoid directly referencing game mechanics or elements of real life.
The table below lists terms you might hear or want to use if necessary.
Term |
Meaning |
Example Usage |
---|---|---|
Tsunami / Storm | Server restart | When is the Tsunami coming? |
Island | The server or the map | I'm new to this island |
Muscle | Key or keyboard shortcut | Use your G muscle to open your phone |
Take a pee / Quick nap | Disconnecting and reconnecting to the server | Take a pee; it might help |
Headache / Brain freeze | Low FPS or lag | I have a big headache, give me 2 minutes |
Slip / Black ice | Vehicle desync | The roads are really icy today |
Lost my voice / Sore throat | Issues with Teamspeak / Microphone | Sorry, cough cough, I lost my voice |
Gods | Server administrators (usage discouraged; use /a on Twitter to contact staff if needed or create a ticket on Discord) | I think this is an act of the gods |
Some terms are used and discovered in RP. Just like in real life, certain analogies are employed to avoid drawing attention. For example, if a man on a street corner offers to sell you "grass," you understand from the context that he’s not selling oregano, but he also hasn’t explicitly revealed himself. Players may use similar phrases to perform secret functions or commit crimes without getting caught. These things must be discovered in RP.
